Fire glass national standards passed review

The national standards for fire-resistant glass were recently passed in Beijing by experts from the National Glass Standardization Technical Committee.

Fire-resistant glass is a type of safety glass whose fire performance is manifested as the ability of the glass to prevent the penetration of fire and hot gases or to prevent the appearance of flames on the back of the glass when the glass member is subjected to fire on one side. , Has a certain fire protection function. Fire protection and heat resistance are the two most important functions of fireproof glass. In some public building sites. Fire-fighting glass has many applications. Although the total amount of its use is not large, and the market demand is also growing slowly, as a new type of material with safety protection functions, standardizing its technical production standards is still of practical importance.

The basis for this revision is the national standard issued in 2001. The new standard distinguishes fireproof glass from fireproof performance into two types, A and C. Among them, Category A is a heat-insulating fire-resistant glass, which is classified into five grades from 0.5 hours to three hours depending on the withstand fire time. Category C is a non-insulated fireproof glass, and four grades are set according to the fireproof time.

From the structural difference, fire-resistant glass is also divided into composite fireproof glass and single-piece fireproof glass. There is no special provision for the glass material, which can be coated or non-coated flat glass, or tempered glass, composite fireproof glass original film. A single piece of fireproof glass can also be used.

It is understood that despite the limited market capacity of fire-retardant glass, there are currently more than 100 domestic production companies and the market competition is fierce.
