At the end of 2016, the cumulative installed capacity of global solar photovoltaics will exceed 310 GW

IHS, a foreign energy information research institute, recently released a 2016 market report saying that by the end of 2016, the global installed capacity of solar photovoltaics has accumulated more than 310 GW. Among them, China, the United States and Japan will become the world's three major solar photovoltaic installation markets, the EU installed capacity will be reduced. The report predicts that global solar PV installations will increase by 35% in 2015, but by 2016, this growth will slow down to 17%.
Josefin Berg, a solar energy expert at the IHS Research Center, explained, “As government subsidies continue to decrease, EU PV installations will continue to decline, although global demand remains strong. Data from the past few years have proven this.”
However, despite this, in 2016, the EU can still rank among the top five solar PV markets in the world, mainly because the demand in countries such as Germany and Italy is growing. However, Germany will fall to the fourth place from the second largest solar PV country in 2015.
The report also believes that global solar PV demand continues to be strong due to the relatively stable price of solar PV modules and a certain room for decline. However, in 2016, the decline in solar PV module prices will be minimized.
